Learning to Read 101

This morning Emma and I were working on some devotions for her Sunday night Bible class. Her task was to decode an encrypted message pertaining to theology. She had figured out the first word--Satan--when I left the room. I could hear her working on the next word from the bathroom.

"Satan canoes." she called out.

Huh?! I thought. Since when was Satan an outdoor enthusiast?

"Spell it!" I called back.

"K-N-O-W-S" Emma replied.

☺ Ah yes. Learning to read can be mighty tricky.

Emma's thought on prayer

Emma mused the other day that we ladies ought to say "A-women" after praying.

"Men are men so they say 'a-men', but we are girls so we say 'a-women'."

I then explained to her that "amen" means "so be it", and it's kind of like how an Adam's apple isn't named after each individual man. Whether we're male or female we say "amen". She still wanted to say "a-woman" of course. ☺

Emma's funny quote

The other day Paige and Emma were taking a bath, and they decided that they wanted to wear their swimsuits in the tub. Emma said to Paige, "Pretend we're in a pool. Pretend we're kids...oh wait, we ARE kids." ☺
