Prayer requests

I have a couple prayer requests that I would like to mention:

1. Please be in prayer for my mom and our family as we recently found out that my mom has lung cancer. Praise be to God though that the cancer is only in her right lung (nowhere else in her body), and the outlook is good; six rounds of chemotherapy should eradicate the cancer. Mom started chemo this past Friday, and we are all just kind of waiting to see how it is going to affect her body. Please pray that the doctors would have wisdom in treating my mom and that she would have extra physical strength for the months ahead. I also pray that we as her family would be merciful towards her and sensitive to ways that we may minister to her. Through God's abundant grace will we endure this trial.

2. I have power of attorney over my grandmother, and lately things have gotten kind of ugly in our dealings with one another. Grandma is saying things to me that make it very hard to respond in a loving, God-honoring manner. But I try to remember that she is a widow, and the Bible is very specific about how Christians ought to treat widows: we aren't to forget them in their troubles, etc. Please pray that God would give me grace to deal with her correctly and the wisdom to know how to respond to her comments.

Asking for prayer

Despite attending church, despite biweekly Bible studies in our home, and despite reading the Word to my girls and teaching them Bible lessons during our home school, I feel spiritually lazy. I know that Pastor has said before that we have periods in our lives that are marked by strong spiritual growth followed by a period of dropping off. Lately I feel as if I'm in the latter category. When this happens to me my prayer life tends to drop off as well, and I start just "riding the waves" of life without much focus on God and how HE'S the one controlling my life, and I ought to be praising and thanking Him or coming before Him on my knees. I tend to think, "Things are okay so I don't need to pray."

Please pray that I would have a zeal for our Father and a desire to bring glory to Him in all areas of my life and also that my focus would be directed at Him and not at the world around me.
