A few Twins game pictures

On Thursday, September 2, David and I along with my brother-in-law and his wife attended a Minnesota Twins game at Target Field. The game started at 7:10. Shortly after we arrived the sky started to look really gloomy. We had just found our seats and sat down when Daniel looked up and said, "Oh. That looks green. We gotta go. Now." I thought he was kidding. But he said, "No. It's gonna rain any minute." So we hie-tailed it out of there and just as we got under the shelter of the upper decks it started to rain. I accidentally snapped this picture as I was running for cover.

After the rain stopped there was a lovely rainbow. ☺

Back to our seats--armed with a load of paper towels. I took this picture of David to send to the Jumbotron people, hoping David would get up on the board and we'd win a camera. We didn't.The game was about to begin. :)

After 13 innings (!!!) the Twins lost. But the night wasn't a total loss--the pretzel with cheese was very good. So were the mini donuts. ;-)

Things I Learned This Summer

Now that school has begun I feel like summer is officially over. Granted, I know that won't actually happen until next week. But for me, the "glory days" are gone. :P (I jest.)

As such, here is a list of things that I either partook in, witnessed, enjoyed, thought about, etc. In short: Things I Learned This Summer
  • Volleyball is a form of fellowship.
  • You can play volleyball even when it's EXTREMELY windy.
  • You just can't play it well.
  • You can even play volleyball at a wedding.
  • In a wedding dress. :)
  • Summer weddings are very hot.
  • Especially summer weddings in August.
  • The wedding of a close Christian friend is such a joyous time.
  • Food tastes better grilled.
  • Grill outs are a good reason to gather with friends.
  • I stink at laser tag.
  • I stink at bowling.
  • There IS a skeleton key that will fit into the century-old locks in my home.
  • There is no better way to keep a toddler out of the bathroom than by locking the door with a skeleton key.
  • Rubber bands do NOT work to keep toddlers out of cupboards.
  • Rubber bands break too easily.
  • I CAN like tea!
  • I can "like" tea if it has lots of stevia. :)
  • Tea cannot replace cappuccino.
  • My girls like to swim.
  • My girls like to swim every day.
  • My girls will ask me every day to take them to the pool.
  • I do not enjoy taking children to the pool.
  • Sun block is expensive.
  • Abby likes the frog slide at the children's pool.
  • Abby will go down the slide repeatedly.
  • A good way to lose sand toys is to bury them.
  • Beach chairs work really well for going to the outdoor pool.
  • You can find beach chairs at garage sales for $2.
  • You can find good deals at garage sales.
  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE garage sales!
  • My girls feel like they have lost a battle if they don't purchase something at every garage sale.
  • Minnesota has a lot of mosquitoes and gnats.
  • Mosquitoes and gnats make outdoor activities less enjoyable.
  • Fireworks are really neat.
  • Getting hit in the leg by a soaring baseball does in fact hurt.
  • Paige & Emma are good big sisters.
  • Summer is a great time to read.
  • Road construction is loud.
  • Road construction will shake your house.
  • Road construction takes many months to complete.
  • A dead mouse in the your dryer vent smells badly.
  • Peppermint or wintergreen oil will remove said bad smell.
  • Clothes on the line really do smell lovely.
  • A backpack is easier to haul around than a purse.
  • It takes much less time to get ready to go somewhere in summer than in winter.
  • Sandals are so convenient.
  • One uses a LOT of Band-Aids in the summer.
  • I don't cook lasagna in the summer months.
  • My girls won't experience the "pleasure" of riding in a vehicle without air conditioning in the middle of summer.

I haven't forgotten.

Greetings! I'm sure you've noticed by now that I haven't posted in quite awhile. I have things to post about, but I haven't gotten a chance to post them as we've started school. Because of that my free time has gone from "very limited" to "none existent". For those whose blogs I read that is why I haven't commented on your writings either. ☺

As such, I just wanted to write a little note for those who check my blog and have been wondering, "Where IS she?!" I promise to write and post some pictures soon.

I will leave you with this funny joke that my mother-in-law sent me today. I laughed heartily!

Q: What do you call a boomerang that doesn't work?
A: A stick.

Unorthodox way of eating breakfast

Look where Abby decided to eat her Lucky Charms this morning. I should point out that she doesn't use her potty chair at all except to sit on it with her clothes on. Apparently it's found a better use anyway.

Those pesky state names

Tonight at the dinner table we were discussing various things that were going on in our family as of late. I mentioned some of our relatives, and then Emma asked, "Who's that?" David then explained who they were and where they live.
"They live in Massachusetts." he said.
"No. They live in New Hampshire." I told him.
Emma then said, "Do they call it New Hampster because people always get new hamsters there?"
☺
David then tried to get her to understand that it was Hamp-SURE. "Hamp-sure." Then he said, "Shire."
I quipped, "Yeah. You know, where Frodo lives."
I don't think she got my joke. ;-)

♫ Here comes the bride. ♪

My dear friend Sarah is getting married this weekend. Yay! ☺ Last Saturday we went to an area amusement center and celebrated her upcoming wedding. One of the other bridesmaids had an "interesting" outfit for Sarah to wear for the afternoon. Even though she doesn't care for pink Sarah wore her fluffy hat proudly and bowled, golfed, played laser tag and arcade games all while wearing her "bling". ☺ Congratulations, Sarah!!! (Ben, too.) ;-)

Snuggling with Daddy

We are blessed as a family to have David spend his lunch hours with us. Each day we anxiously await when Daddy walks through the door at approximately 12:10pm. It breaks up the day a little, and we--David and I--get to tell one another how our mornings have been going.

Today after he ate David went to lay (lie? I can never remember which is the correct word ☺) on the sofa for a little bit before going back to work. Abby and I came into the living room with him, and she went and laid by him on the sofa.

Shortly after this P&E came into the house, and they joined us in the living room. Emma crawled on top of Daddy as well.
Then the three of them had a tickle fight. ☺

Miss Goo-goo

Abby was grumpy this morning. After I took her out of bed she walked around the house crying off and on for about a half an hour. But when we went to wake up her big sisters she suddenly snapped out of it, and then she was happy for a moment. I took advantage and got a cute picture of her.

~~~
Gooby is a big snacker. She goes to the fridge and the pantry constantly! She pulls the cereal bags out of the cupboards and walks around with them, eating straight out of the bag. Or she'll hang on the handle of the refrigerator and make noise until I open it up. Then she'll point at the drawer with the cheese sticks or the apples. She was at it again the other day so I took a picture of her. I think she looks just like my brother in this photo. Sorry, it's kind of blurry.
