My husband, David, my 14 year-old nephew, Alex, and I went to see Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen this afternoon. This is my review of the movie.
...
Overall I would give the movie a B+. Most of the reviews that I read about the movie before we saw it were unfavorable, so I wasn't expecting to be blown away. I was thinking it wasn't going to be as good as the first, and it wasn't.
First off, it was too long at almost 2.5 hours. They could have trimmed the fat off of several scenes and some of the back-story. Second, there were several inappropriate moments and camera angles of the lead actress. Third, the Transformers kept getting into these gigantic fights with other robots, and they would just get the tar beat out of them, but then when they transformed back into a vehicle they looked pristine. And lastly, I didn't care for a lot of the dialogue between the robots.
Having said that, the CGI was excellent, the plot line tied back to the previous film, and there were many exciting and humorous scenes. I guess it was worth paying the $6 to see it in the theater. (Except for the fact that the movie theater operator had turned the volume down on the previous movie so I had to go tell them to turn the volume back up so we could actually hear the dialogue and not try to lip read.)

I actually thought the Autobots were more... evil this time from the opening scene. Yes, it was cool, but having Optimus blow a hole in the face of a downed Decepticon? It just didn't seem right to me.
