- Why does it take over a month to get an appointment to see your family doctor? Why a month?? Are they really so busy with patients that their schedules are literally full all day every day for an entire month? I don't believe it. I tried scheduling an appointment with other doctors at our local clinic, and their earliest appointment was a month out or more as well. And seriously, EVERY time I call to get an appointment with our family doctor, the scheduler mumbles to herself (as she's looking through the schedule), "...and she's gone this day. She's on vacation that week..." How much vacation time does one doctor get?? Grrr. I'm disgruntled.
- What is the correct response to the following situation: I was at the optometrist this morning, getting my glasses adjusted. A lady walked in, sat down, and said, "Hi Nikki!" And she started asking me questions and generally chatting with me as if she knew me of old. I feel so badly saying this, but I couldn't remember who she was! I didn't know her name or how I knew her. Nothing. She DID look familiar, but I just could not figure out how we knew each other. Is it polite to just ask, "I'm sorry, but who are you again?" ☺
- Lastly, it's really neat when, as a homeschooling parent, your child begins to read. Emily is picking up books now and trying to read them. She sounds out the words, and she is actually reading the entire story. It's so amazing! And I just feel so wonderful all around because I taught her. I don't want to be proud, but it's just so neat! Whatever I am doing as a teacher is working, despite my short-comings. ;-)
I hope you all are having a great day today. Here in southern MN the sun is shining brightly, the sky is clear, and it's just a lovely day.
My note: After relating the second incidence above to David at lunch, I remembered who she was! I feel really foolish now. : )

Hehehe, the post made me laugh. :) I know what it's like to run into somebody and not know who they are...Last year, a lady at the store told my mom and me that she was sorry she couldn't make it to my grad party, but I couldn't remember who she was!!! And I'd even sent her an invitation!! :P Fortunately, my mom remembered.
So, who was she?
Steph-it was Tammy's mom! Ugh I feel so dumb now. Why couldn't I remember that when I saw her?!
:D Are you old enough to get alzeimers already? Lol!!! I've done that before. Even worse, is when you remember exactly who ther person his, how you know them, but can't think of their name for any thing.
You should try getting in to the doctor here in the city!!!! It's awful.
I just usually say, "I know you. I know I know you, but I don't know how I know you." Or, if your glasses were off, you could've claimed that everything looks blurry and ask who they are.
